America & MX of Nations

This page will guide you through our trip to the United States of America which included our amazing experience of the Motocross of Nations 2007 at Budds Creek, Maryland.

Firstly we arrived in Orlando and after a day of looking about we collected our first Hire car, orginally to be a Dodge Charger but due to unavailability, a Chrysler 300 was collected.

Hire Cars

With the carand Shane's driving skills we were now able to have a better look around Orlando and the area and head to the next hotel on the list.

Orlando & Daytona Beach

The first real attraction we had planned to go to was the N.A.S.A. Space Centre. The time of year was ideal as everything was available but there wasnt massive crowds or waiting for anything. The 3D Imax films were amazing and i got hooked on collecting the damn souvenir coins!

N.A.S.A Space Centre

Next was up the coast to Daytona..."The home of NASCAR" and Shane in heaven. A real petrol heads tour. The banked oval was amazing, you really cant appreciate the steepness of the banks until you see them in real life, you couldnt barely climb them, Of course SHane said he would give it go, be easier in a NASCAR though..... lol. We met a few lads heading to the MX of Nations too, but soon got split up as we headed around the rest of the complex. Another 3D Imax film and some simulators (Again you know who won!) and even a tyre change challenge of which Shane helped another guy and of course he just happened to get the quickest time of the day...amazing really that his head still fits through the doors...(see next pics).

Daytona 2007

The it was back to Orlando to drop off the car and get in our final hotel before the trip to Washington and the Motocross! This hotel was amazing, the best we had by far and the cheapest, would definately recommend Westgate Villas to anyone!
The next day, a quick flight, another hire car unavailable, but instead of getting the best they had, Shane and I perserveired until they RELUCTANTLY offered us a car the had just got in, just 45 miles on the clock!...a Dodge Nitro 4x4. Seemed bigger than our 4x4's in the UK (but shorter) yet one of the smallest on the road over there. Either way, a BIG V8 Auto, Shane loved it!

Motocross of Nations 2007

Motocross over, Damn we shouldve done better, 5th with basically 2 riders, we were unlucky Noble hurt himself but damn right stupid for the ACU and British Team NOT to take our SPARE RIDER!?!
Anyway, enough ranting, we could go on for hours, the trade stands were crap, so now were on a hunt for 2008's race gear before New York City. So calling round all the dealers for the leatt neck braces we find a store with just one display model. We headed up north 100 or so miles to  Twig Cycles ( www.twiggcycles.com ) who didnt have much in stock, but shane did get his Leatt Neck Brace, a Fox kit and Helmet and a TLD kit. The Americans apparently mail order everything. But we did make a saving from the UK prices, so it was good.
Next it was up to New York for just the one day now (thanks to the lack of trade stands and need to buy MX bits).

New York City

Finally it was back to the Airport, drop off the car, fly back to Orlando and then a flight home the next day.

Well, thats a brief summary, there is so much i could put, but i may update this or tell you more if u ask.
